About us
faithCommons is a non-commercial, non-denominational, all religions welcomed (and non-religions too), community portal for postmoderns and outside-the-box thinkers. It is a common ground for those with differing religious backgrounds. It is a crossing point, a way station, a shared resource—a Commons.
As Jesus did, we welcome religion's outsiders and outcasts, unchurched, unconnected and uninvited. For these have little invested in systems that must be maintained and are therefore able to travel light on a journey over both old paths that have been abandoned for centuries and over new paths yet to be traveled.
And, while those who first began this journey here came mostly from a Christian background, we do not consider it a Christian endeavor. Indeed, there are members here from Eastern religions and yes, even Atheists. One might say that we seek truth and understanding through our religious traditions as well as in spite of them. True seekers of knowledge know that they need balance from those who see the world differently.
This site also syndicates content from other sites, for two reasons. The second and least important reason is to provide excerpts of current content from like thinkers around the 'net. But the first and more important reason is to build connections between like thinkers around the 'net. Like Thinker does not mean in agreement. It means others who similarly seek understanding through old and new ways unchained from heavily invested systems, systems that focus increasingly on maintaining what was, rather than seeking what could be.
Submitting an article
Kashif,
You're very welcome to post an article. To post on faithCommons, create an account for yourself (which could easily be a pseudonym, of course) and merely add your article as a blog entry and an excerpt of your post will show up on the front page. Or, you can submit an article by creating, instead of a blog entry, a "story" entry.
Stories, when submitted, go through an approval queue as articles would in mainstream publishing. But there is another difference between a blog entry and a story entry. Stories are formatted in pages and can be stored under articles.
When you first mentioned your site some weeks ago, I read through it and hoped to syndicate it here but couldn't find an RSS syndication link. However, I would be honored to republish your articles here.

Another option
Kashif,
There are many terms in the article The Signs of God that some readers will be unfamiliar with. We can help them by adding those terms to the glossary so that readers can merely 'mouse over' them and get a short definition as they read. I can do the work of creating the glossary terms but will need you to check my work for accuracy.
BTW, you can send email to me by replacing the [at] with the appropriate @ sign in bill[at]faithCommons.org

The Three Rings

Your choice of three rings caught my attention. Are they symbolic of diversity and connectedness?

Well, like good modern art, meaning is in the head of the beholder. But, since I'm no artist, I'll tell you what I wanted in a logo.
I wanted a logo that described Commons. I also wanted something simple. The circle is a symbol of divinity but it also brings to mind systems and cycles. The different colors and sizes can be different groups or perspectives contributing to the Commons but I hope there will be far more than three. Three rings look better than two or four while more than four looked too busy. The rings are interconnected (actually the version that's up there isn't but I'll get the modified, interlocked version up soon) to show interconnected diversity—as you suggested.
There's also a bit of irony or sarcasm in the ideas of Commons and the logo. Most web sites that I've looked at representing a religious group or otherwise related to faith and religion, have a statement of beliefs. These statements let visitors know what box to categorize them into. In contrast, the name and the logo here say that all beliefs that contribute to the Commons are welcome.

How can I submit an article ?
Hi there,
I really like your site. It is a very constructive way of promoting understanding between people of all faith and background. I have an excellent article on 'Signs Of GOD'. It would be great if you could have a link to it on your site. You can find the article @
http://thesimplemessage.blogspot.com/2005/04/signs-of-god.html
Alternatively, if you would like to receive a copy of the article and post it yourself, that would be fine as well. Just let me know.
Thanks,
Kashif
