Beyond reason

Syndicated from: Awakening Soul on Wed, 04/23/2008 - 14:04
"Since God is not knowable in this world, where reason, opinion, and teaching lead us, by means of symbols, from the better known to the unknown, God is grasped only where persuadings leave off and faith enters in. "

"Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will."

BBC - The Life of the Buddha

Syndicated from: Awakening Soul on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 17:11

It would be great to see a series of these documentaries covering all of the world's religious figureheads.

Jesus, The Christian Ideal

Syndicated from: Awakening Soul on Thu, 03/20/2008 - 01:55
"Even those who have renounced Christianity and attack it, in their inmost being still follow the Christian ideal, for hitherto neither their subtlety nor the ardour of their hearts has been able to create a higher ideal of man and of virtue than the ideal given by Christ of old."
--Fyodor Dostoyevsky
