What Constitutes Systematic Bankruptcy?

All

With the descent and devaluation of Wall Street, we are learning firsthand about Process.  Basic to understanding any value system is coming to terms with the foundational strength of that system.  In the case of Wall Street and the fingers pointing to Fannie and Freddie, the underlying strength is Trust.  On that Trust, the brokers hope to generate Good Faith -- that is, hard earned dollars get placed in their hands for future investment.

Christ the Magician

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26972493/

Interesting discovery from ancient Alexandria harbor.  Weren't Gnostic writings also found associated with Alexandria?  Interesting usage associating words/descriptives that Orthodoxy would shun.  Does it point to a time when such things were not shunned?  Or does it point to a time when the word Xristos had a more common meaning of "anointed" instead of the proper name that came to be associated with the word?

Feedback in Faith

All

Bill will have a great deal more expertise than I in this line of thought since he is a controls engineer, so I anticipate he will be able to contribute.  Actually what sparked this post is an upgrade in treating my type 1 diabetes, now in its 22nd year since diagnosis.  I am soon to begin using an insulin pump that continuously monitors blood glucose levels.  My earliest experience with insulin was with the time-released blend injected twice daily.  While it aimed at general control, the actual results were poor because the action of the insulin curve did not come close to matching food intake and rise in glucuse levels.  Then, for the next 21 years we went to multiple injections daily -- one for a timed-release basal dosage, and the others for the curve that comes with each meal.  Overall, control has been exceptionally good, but nowhere near what the human body is able to do naturally with a normal pancreas.  The problem is that each dosage was trying to catch what lacked in the last, as well as anticipate what was coming in the next meal.  There are a hundred ways this can miss, but the basic flaw is -- no feedback (or very delayed).  Now technology has given us a direct feedback as well as a graphing record of sleeping glucose levels.  This, combined with accurate dosage, is very nearly natural.

For God and Country

All

We have discussed Thematics on occasion here at this site.  With election time rolling around, this particular theme is being repeated often in a concerted effort to bring votes and align what is an easily divided voting front.  As ridiculous as it seems, the old saw is that if you are not for warfare, you must be unpatriotic and unsupportive of our dying soldiers.  Sorry to take away the simplicity of this Theme, but like most religious and political themes (see previous posts that explain how the two are related), this one has been false for millenia.  The Battle for God continues to rage, fueled by what divides humanity, instead of those things we share in common.

Into the Void

All

Bill's photos and the comments following by Dr. Rao provoke me to place a few words (sorry Bill, I tried to post a response at work but it got zapped into Neverland.)

The stark beauty of the rugged West Coast is breathtaking (especially for those who enjoy motorcycling).  Yes, it is being ravaged like everything else by humans seeking to dominate all existence in order to better a short term plan for wealth.  The sharpness of the land reminds me that this was (and still is) a very active geology with seismic and volcanic activity.  The beauty that now is, came in the aftermath of what had to be reckoned as God's Coming.  Annihilation and destruction always create a void in the wake -- and that void seems to always get filled by something.  It is motion.

Process and Flow in Faith -- the River of Life

Recently a minor surgery included a question about church preference.  The answer that made most sense -- "A church Without Walls".  This brought back memories of my early attempts at writing about that topic.  In the process, the chain of thought finally ended up with a Lived Faith rather than a Descriptive one, so  I set out on an untried path to see what would come.  Lots of things developed, much of it discussed on this website.  The journey from being a fundamentalist Christian to being who I am today has been worthwhile.

All A Part of God \ All Apart From God

All

This topic struck me as interesting when reading Walsch as he makes no bones about believing that our religions have failed to bring unity and peace to humanity (even the other extreme in most cases).  He points to Exclusivity as the root of Separation.

In more depth, where does this Exclusive mindset come from?  From the time we are children, religions begin to teach us that we are separated from God.  Whether we know it or not, this pervades our entire existence and possible coexistence with others who have been taught the same, but under a different belief system.  And yet, each belief system contains basic teaching of creation, love, and purpose in life.  "Salvation can be yours, so long as you do it the way I was taught."
