GANDHI LAMENTS.... Part II
GANDHI LAMENTS... PART II
Prof Dr Colonel ( Retired) K Prabhkar Rao
M K Gandhi is credited for leading the Indian struggle for Independence from the British rule. There is no doubt that he sacrificed greatly and suffered prison terms and persecution by the authorities. He is known for fighting against racial discrimination in South Africa before he returned to India. Gandhi practiced and preached non violence even against enemy and although India gained freedom, India was bifurcated and Pakistan was created. Gandhi was honored with titles of father of nation and Mahatma (Great soul). MK Gandhi is also severely criticized for his Muslim appeasement polices and bifurcation of India is held against his polices and consequently he was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayak Godse on 30 January 1948 at Birla Mandir while proceeding for the prayer. Sixty years have passed since gaining of independence and over these years, the politicians in India have used Gandhi’s name for acquiring power and winning elections while Gandhi is discarded into a dust bin. The moral path shown by him is discarded and the politics in the country have become a cess pool and India has earned great ill reputation as the most corrupt nation in the world. Democracy is on paper while in spirit and practice it is violated to the hilt. Dynastic rule is the order of the day. The moral fiber has dissipated. Gandhi’s soul hovering in the sky without attaining peace probably must be crying loud beating its bared chest with anguish at the fallen norms and failure of his vision. Probably, he must be repenting for getting freedom for India after seeing the downfall in India. His anguish is presented as a set of poems.
My name is used by all and sundry
Although with my name they are weary
The poor Indian sentiments are greatly used
By those with whom mischief is fused
Indian masses are on a wrong path
And innocents face brutal police wrath
The leaders sleep in tall ivory towers
While Gandhi’s name used to stay in power
Innocent Gandhi is lost in history books
While crooks rule India at every nook
Mayhem and murder are committed by the brutes
While the rulers remain dumb, deaf and mute
I am the Gandhi bald and too sad
For giving power to all these insane and mad
The nation is rocking as a ship in fiery seas
While the leaders run for power as busy bees
I am the Gandhi bald and also bold
My men have no conscience that they have sold
I feel really sorry for making India free
As leaders in India have climbed corruption tree
I Brought freedom to India from foreign yoke
Yet democracy in India has become a great joke
Leaders change colors as a garden lizard
These men infact are the greatest national hazard
I am the Gandhi strong and grim
And I maintained my body very trim
Youth of today are busy with dance and dice
While their vigor is ruined by the drinking vice
I am the Gandhi now old and sick
Recommend to Indians a mighty kick
Freedom is not meant for misuse
The nation would finally land up in a bin of refuse
As father of nation I have no greed
India however is split on caste and creed
I feel sorry for the state of the Indian nation
Yet I do not see in future any salvation
My name is used for the main streets
Where bars and whores are plenty to treat
No one raises a finger in protest
And Indians find it very easy to digest
Some stand as Gandhi at road junctions
While people flip coins in great appreciation
Gandhi’s name is the joke of the day
While pseudo Gandhis are all in the fray
In silver paint he stands with a cloth across the groin
Waiting for the guys to throw a coin
Passers throw at him a glance
In fiery mid day heat he stands in a trance
I went on fasts in great devotion
To set the balls of protests in to motion
Pseudo Gandhis fast for silly issues
Taking care however not to damage their tissues
Gandhian era was over with last century
While ethics are stored in a near by mortuary
All the leaders are in the dirty rat race
Many are sure to be shamed and loose their face
