MERIT IN DRAIN

In India reservations have been implemented based on caste and now even Muslims are given reservations in various fields. This continue policy of reservations after gaining independence has caused untold damage and bitterness in society and the vey purpose has been defaeted. Now people are more concerned about caste. It is mre entrenched in society now. Merit has disapperaed long time ago in the selection process. Tremors were already felt after report of Mandal commission was released and was about to be implemented. The leaders are taking the country to disater by the short sighted policies. At some stage in India caste war is inevitable and probably Balkanization of the country based on caste can not be ruled out....

 

 

In India merit is no more needed

Where mediocre are only sure to rise

Those who are bright and intelligent

Are fleeing the nation to west having become wise

 

These guys would never return home

having felt the brunt of present state

In west merit is of consideration

While in India one has reconcile to his sad fate

 

In jobs, schools colleges and various courses

Seats are not reserved in bulk for the have-nots

Merit is drowned in a thick black dye

As country’s progress is down the mud pots

Once a guy was given seat in a medical school

Having scored marks a full zero

Sure the guy would have killed the people in bulk

After becoming a medical doctor and an hero

In India caste is the basis for rise

And merit is pushed aside and kicked off

Down from the ladder the guy is brought to the top

Like a cow is dragged off from its new born calf

In the name of upliftment of society

The rulers have erred on basic issues

Lessons are not learnt by them yet

While bright are burning their tissues

The reservations are extended without an end

While the bright are denied the open gate

The youth are turning into a boiling pot

Sure to burst out at some later date

It is time the practice is put to rest

And ensure the merit only grows tall

All and sundry are at the helm of affairs

And it has led to nations down fall

Reservations have made the castes more rigid

This led to the growth of vested interests

Ambedkar’s aims have not been met

And people are confined to their own selfish nests

Reservations have made society more dependent

And they look to rulers for rise

Give them the money, comforts and materials

And ask them to stand in the general queue

India has become a laughing stock in world

As a country of people of dubious merit

The nation has been dubbed as the corrupt nation

Where mediocre are given the undue credit
