EARTHWORMS

Al Khalid Army Ayub Khan Centurions Delhi DRDO Jagjivan Ram Kariappa Field Marshal Koorgi Lahore Lal Bahadur Shastri Nilgiri pakistan Sherman tanks warProbably the country needs war not one but many so that voice of army is heard by the civil servants. . Some guys of course react that it was wishful thinking and out of frustration due to failure of civil government in reacting to demands of army. There is no frustration on this side. The real fact is that peace time army has no respect and also will have no respect especially in this land of oppertunists. This is truth whether some one likes or not. Many know this but out of modesty act as if not true or be a cat on the wall. They look other way. Many guys see Army as a waste of national resources. Are we maintaining army as a show piece as a safety factor? Second is rather true. We have already fought many wars and lost some major too. But for Army, Delhi would have been with Pakistan. In 1965, Field Marshal Ayub Khan declared that He would have breakfast at Rawalpindi and lunch at Delhi or something to that effect. It shows how poorly he assessed and how very confident he was. They were so confident when American Patton Tanks lumbered across the borders in hundreds. Army then has shown what it means with World War II vintage American built Shermans and British Centurions. Kudos to them. Some guys who claim to be the only experts in modern tank warfare might feel happy in arm chairs without seeing a round being fired from a tank at enemy. Cheers to them. Leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri and Jagivan Ram, Defense minister had guts and in fact Indians could have good lunch with roasted chicken and beer at Lahore. I am sorry. We are Gandhians. No Chicken and beer. We should not say loud. Topiwallahs might get offended. We could have had some vegetables and goat’s milk, peeled bananas and Parathas in Lahore. Otherwise Gandhis soul would weep beating its chest and tearing clothes. We also would get into sins and land in hell................
SITTING DUCK... ARJUN THE BATTLE TANK
Submitted by K Prabhakar Rao on Wed, 07/23/2008 - 08:13. Arjun AVSM Bheema Chennai DRDO krishna Madras Pandava PVSM VCR EngineThe development of Main Battle Tank (MBT) for Indian armored Corps by Indian scientists was taken up by CVRDE at Madras ( Now Chennai) that is a part of DRDO. Way back in seventies, the project MBT 80 was taken up. Guys were trying to develop own engine for the future MBT, the inevitable sitting duck. In those days, there was a craze for Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) Diesel Engine, popular in American usage and Tank development. In this design, the compression ratio could be changed while the engine was running by pumping high pressure oil into piston that was made of two sliding parts, one within other. Once the fluid is forced in to the chamber, upper sliding piston moves up and gets locked and reduces the clearance volume and there by increases compression ratio. However the sealing and other allied arrangements should be sophisticated and Indian expertise in those days was definitely debatable and to be precise was utterly lacking. After struggling for much of the time at Madras by the Research organization of Govt India, I think they came out with a model proto type probably in 1970 aimed to produce 1500 BHP. This engine could just produce power that was just sufficient to keep it moving by itself overcoming its internal friction. I am sure the engine would have struggled and stopped if the fly wheel was touched with the hand (Meaning an additional light load). Rest of the balance power probably was interpolated and predicted using various performance curves and claimed that it would produce (bla…bla…bla…). There was no actual power development and brake power testing to the required power. It was the theoretical prediction. The seals in piston gave serious trouble. The Project died its own death and God saved India. I am sure the project of the beleaguered design was abandoned. My question is, “Why try to design some thing that is beyond one’s capability?” In India, for some crazy guys there are many fancies.
WILD GOOSE CHASE

Al Khalid Arjun tank DRDO Indian army pakistan reserach ( Pseudo) Indian army is having problems with the much debated Arjun Tank the main Battle Tank that has taken more than three decades to crawl on the raod. The tank developed by the Indian defence research team after rediscovering Newtons law from time to time could not impress the armed forces. The tank is seen as a sitting duck. On the other front Pakistan has successfully produced Al Kahlid tanks are in regular production. Very soon swan son has to be sung for these Arjun Tanks although some guys desperately have soft corner for these metal boxes. The DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) has taken the people of this country on a wild goose chase all these years.......................
