The country boasts as the largest practicing democracy. But the truth is far from it in real sense. There are many scamsters, cheats and anti social elements facing court cases and some were convicted too who are continuing in the government.Family rule has become a right. When a leader dies, his son or wife or daughter succeeds him to the position. It is a game of rehabilitation. In fact the highest house of elders has become the place of political rehabilitation and to appaese some old horses who can not run... The puppet show at central governmnet goes on .. In fact it is a mockery of democracy....These are expressed as English poems.

Submitted by K Prabhakar Rao on Sat, 12/29/2007 - 05:58. ethics moralsIndian cinema is very old and the silent movies started some where in 1930. Since then it has come great length. The golden era of the films was till 1955 and then influence of foreign cinema, music and culture started influencing the n cinema. Earlier the actors used to sing their own songs. Legendary singers and actors like Saigal, Surendra, Noor jehan, Khurshid, Ameer Bai Karnataki, Zohra, Shamshad begum, Talat, GM Durrani, Rama chadra ruled. Then came the era of Mukesh, Rafi, Kishore, Lata, Surayya, Asha etc. Some are still there. Great Music directors like Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Husanlal Bhagat ram, SD Burman, Pankaj Mulluick, C Rama chandra, and others contributed to Indian cinema. Then the commercial degradation started and is now in the drain. Although technology has improved, cinema has shown adverse influence in Indian ethos, culture and values. The themes are rape, murder, Hate, Dacoity, arson, cheating, and other crimes. There is nothing to feel proud about it except some occasional movies that go un noticed. The quality of viewers too has degraded..... Downgradation continues. The present state of Indian cinema is described in a set of poems

Erich Fromm on Destructiveness

Visiting the library for Fromm's The Art of Loving (which they have reserved for me), I checked out what looks to be a thorough treatment of the opposite of love. I really think it will relate to your book, but if not, it already has opened my eyes to some things. Most notably, Fromm disagrees with the notion that aggression is innate in man. He points out that much of our thinking has been conditioned to accept that destructiveness is just part of man's nature, much of that concept based on comparisons with animal behavior.
