WHAT IS WRONG WITH US IN INDIA?

On the political front, India basically suffers from the self-glorification as a world peacemaker and apostle of peace. It beats it’s drum as the world peacemaker although it fought many wars with Pakistan and continues to fight in Jammu and Kashmir ( J & K) a proxy war. It is fighting many separatist outfits in North Eastern front apart from the militant communists all over the country except in few states. Yet it claims as the land of peace. With departed MK Gandhi in backdrop as father of nation, many acclaim it as a unique nation that won freedom by non-violence and admired India. During the tenure of Pundit (Enlightened) Jawaharlal Nehru, the first and much acclaimed Prime Minister, it founded Non Aligned Movement (NAM) along with President Sukarno of Indonesia, Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia, Charismatic President Gamel Abdel Nasser of Egypt and preached world peace and some world nations joined the out fit. Most of these nations were insignificant and poor nations and had no say on world affairs. They were just clapping crowd and trying to find some identity on world forums. Super powers had their own inhibitions about NAM and cared hoots to it. John Dulles the famous Secretary of State, USA in the past called Non alignment as a sin much to the indignation of the NAM leaders who fumed and fretted..................

HUMAN VALUES IN CHRISTIANITY

Some critics describe Christianity as a religion that is devoid of human happiness, inculcates fear and that the followers are after salvation that is a mirage. But Jesus was a source of happiness and those who follow him would also be happy. They should not worry over the difficulties encountered during their lives and scared of challenges enroute. However saying  is easy but in practice it is very difficult as people say. The Christians must concentrate on Jesus and heavens and with great devotion and faith must lead their lives instead of going down in unhappiness and dejection. At no point of time, Jesus said that he would remove all difficulties for his followers. He said that he would help and standby those who are in difficulties during the life. He would help the followers to carry their cross of their difficulties with patience, determination and love. He would fill love in the hearts of his followers and reduce the burden of their grievances. He demonstrated to the world by carrying his own cross and sacrificed himself on the Cross and even at the time of his death, he did not blame any one. Therefore all Christians loving Jesus and having faith in him must carry their own Cross of grievances with cheer and follow the foot steps shown by Lord Jesus. This is the true life of a Christian.............................

CRAZE OF AWARDS

Indians are crazy of awards and great lobbying goes on for these awards. Bharat Ratna is the highest national award in India and is given to very distinguished persons.Of late this award has become a controversy as all and sundry are aspiring for it.

Normal politicians who change their colors like Lizards are also claiming and lobbying for the award. In fact political leaders are resorting to all manipulations to get these awards. During British rule the Englishmen bought the loyalty of landed gentry by awarding title such as Rao Bahadur, Diwan Bahadur, Sir, Raja Bahadur etc. After gaining freedom these titles were abolished but were replaced by Padma awards. It is new wine in old bottles. Same rat race goes on. Lot of heart burning is noticed in India. Lobbying is going on for getting awards for men like Vajpayee, Karunaanidhi, Mulayam singh and Kanshiram. On the other hand army guys are after Seva medals which replaced British titles such as Distinguished Service Order etc. Only God knows the truth behind the award. Every General is given the award such as AVSM, PVSM, or at least one of these. Many deserving candidates vanish into history without any recognition because time, place and relations matter a lot in services. No heart burn. A simple fact of life. Why awards at all? They are doing the duty to their best and it is their duty. The awards result in rat race, cut throat situation, back biting, digging graves from behind, sycophancy in services. Many are of the view that the awards should be abolished because they are mismanaged.

GANDHI LAMENTS... Part IV

M K Gandhi is credited for leading the Indian struggle for Independence from the British rule. There is no doubt that he sacrificed greatly and suffered prison terms and persecution by the authorities. He is known for fighting against racial discrimination in South Africa before he returned to India. Gandhi practiced and preached non violence even against enemy and although India gained freedom, India was bifurcated and Pakistan was created. Gandhi was honored with titles of father of nation and   Mahatma (Great soul).  MK Gandhi is also severely criticized for his Muslim appeasement polices and bifurcation of India is held against his polices and consequently he was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayak Godse on 30 January 1948 at Birla Mandir while proceeding for the prayer. Sixty years have passed since gaining of independence and over these years, the politicians in India have used Gandhi’s name for acquiring power and winning elections while Gandhi is discarded into a dust bin. The moral path shown by him is discarded and the politics in the country have become a cess pool and India has earned great ill reputation as the most corrupt nation in the world. Democracy is on paper while in spirit and practice it is violated to the hilt. Dynastic rule is the order of the day. The moral fiber has dissipated. Gandhi’s soul hovering in the sky without attaining peace probably must be crying loud beating its bared chest with anguish at the fallen norms and failure of his vision. Probably, he must be repenting for getting freedom for India after seeing the downfall in India. His anguish is presented as a set of poems.

Pseudo secularism

India declared itself as the secular country at the time of independence and Muslims were given option to stay back or leave for Pakistan. Many have migrated and scores remained. But fact is that Muslim league was given more than 90 % votes at the time of granting independence that advocated partition of the country. Consequently India was partitioned. At the time of independence, Sardar (Leader) Patel, the former Deputy Prime Minister of India Stated that Muslims were free to migrate from India and if they choose to remain could not have dual loyalties. What he anticipated in 1947 happened soon. Patel is no more. His prophecy has become true. Muslims after partition mostly withdrew from the main stream and confined themselves into groups and identified with their religion than with the country. Every aspect was being linked to the religion (1). No doubt they felt at risk in majority India. The successive governments too followed appeasement policies to gain confidence of Muslim voters and this has resulted in a feeling that they have some special status in India and are required to be pampered. There were many communal riots in India at many places including Hyderabad. A section of Muslims openly supported Pakistan on all maters and Middle East than India. There were saner Muslims. But their voice was not heard. No one ventured to speak against the fundamentalists. The partition has driven permanent wedge between both the communities and fear of mistrust has become permanent in India. The assassination of MK Gandhi in 1948 itself was the outcome of severe dissatisfaction over his Muslim appeasement policies during the freedom struggle and partition of the country that it permanent damage to the nation. The Government continues the policy of appeasement and result is that Islamic terrorism has taken permanent roots in the country. Kashmir is threatened. Some even raised formation of Mughalistan in Uttar Pradesh areas (2). Government even hesitated to take action agsint the Muslim legislators who were responsible during the attacks on Tasleema Nasreen (3) and doctors at the hospitals in Hyderabad recently (4). All these incidents go to prove that pseudo secularism no doubt is practiced in the country. This article narrates the aspect of pseudo secularism in the form of English poems (5).

Congress Humiliated in Gujarat Elections in India

Congress party received severe beating and drubbing in Gujrat elections. It made Modi as the prime target and unleashed a series of attacks by propaganda of hate. Sonia Gandhi in her campaign called Modi as the arbitrator of death or in similar words. This has boomrangedvery badly. Bharateeya Janata Party( BJP) is now in great spirits and hopes to sweep polls soon for gaining power at center. The much projected Rahul Gandhi as the future Prime minister and the hope of India did not work. The entire party has been bowled out lock stock and barrel.Lesson to be  learnt is that people are no longer fooled by empty talk and hate campaign. They are able to see things in true perspective. On the otherfront, the minority appeasement policies of the congress party are being realised by the people. In the land of MKGandhi, father of nation and much aclaimed as apostle of peace and toleration, congress party could not impress electorate with its policies and governing. The election result in Gujarat is a lesson and also a warning to Congress party and it is most unlikely that it would return to power in the coming elections. They have to be prepared to  sit at the back bench and sulk in dispair and suck thumbs too. Gujrat elections shall have great influence in the country and also would affect the future general elections.
