As Gandhi would have put it...

Syndicated from: ProgressiveIslam.Org - Sheep are for `Eid on Mon, 09/22/2008 - 11:32

I apologise for the hit-and-run post, and though I have great respect for the man, I am not a Gandhian. But following everything over the weekend, I am left with a thought this morning that channels Gandhi; A War on Terror would be a great idea--if either the West or Muslims choose to take up the idea.

A THREAD TO HANG ON ATLEAST NOW… TERRORIST LINK

Terrorism has taken deep roots in India. Thanks to the vacillating practice of pseudo secularism in India right from the days of partition of sub continent in 1947. Terrorists have been striking regularly at different places with impunity in India killing scores of innocents. As per the study, India stands at the top of list of terrorist attacks   and stands above Iraq and Israel combined  (1).  The targets in India have been crowded market places, parks, temples, eating joints and mosques where people congregate in large numbers   to spend time either in devotion or for pleasure seeking.  Many times, such sites have turned into blood soaked centers where people have lost lives and limbs.  Mothers have lost children, husbands lost wives and wives lost husbands in such mindless acts.....

STATE TERRORISM.... HOW CRUEL IT IS?

Every one speaks on terrorism at present. Why not? This is the easiest subject at present. Lengthy articles are written in News papers, journals, editorials and spoken at seminars where experts (Some pseudo ?_)deliberate on the issues related. Many arm chair pseudo analysts, drawing room analysts, arm chair watchers, fake strategists, retired government personnel from Police and home department indulge in lengthy talks on the subject of terrorism particularly about Islamic terrorism. This activity has reached its crazy height after 9/11. But sadly none deliberates on State terrorism worldwide. They blink and act as if the word is not heard. They turn the head otherway. This is because some of the retired Government men in all the nations are surely a part to this nefarious activity and that was a sanctioned holy act in their view. Some of them might have been as cruel as the members of German GESTAPO of World War ill fame and many get Scot-free..........................

INDIA AND TERRORISM…. WHAT LACKS HERE?

For the last twenty years India is plagued by Terrorism in J and K. Scores of Muslim fundamentalists out fits a have surfaced in India and these are abetting another partition of India. The appeasement policies in India have done great damage to the nation. Muslims in India feel that they have special status as citizens and are now even demanding special reservations in jobs and education. Indian justice is highly delayed. It is unable to even hang the anti nationals after awarding death sentence. India has failed to curb terrorism and its lack luster policies on this issue and policy of appeasement of  a section of its citizens is the main cause for growth of Terrorism. It has no fixed policy of firmness and is vacillating while dealing with the enemies of the country.

SIMI IS ON THE RISE AGAIN SPREADING FAST AND IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO INDIA

The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was formed in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh state, in April 1977. SIMI's founding president was Mohammad Ahmadullah Siddiqi, reportedly professor of journalism and public relations at the Western Illinois University. SIMI originally emerged as a student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH). The stated mission of SIMI is the ‘liberation of India’ from western materialistic cultural influence and to convert it into an Islamic society. SIMI have been influenced by Deobandi Islam which is a Muslim revivalist movement that started in India in 1879. It is perhaps most famous in the west as the philosophy of the past Taliban government in Afghanistan. Its slogan is "Allah is our Lord, Qur’an is our constitution, Muhammad is our leader, Jihad is our way and Shahadah is our desire". Among its various objectives, SIMI aims to counter what it believes is the increasing moral degeneration, sexual anarchy in the Indian society as also the ‘insensitiveness’ of a ‘decadent’ west. SIMI maintains that the concepts of secularism, democracy and nationalism, keystones of the Indian Constitution, are antithetical to Islam. They aim to restore the supremacy of Islam through the resurrection of the Khilafat, emphasis on the Muslim Ummah and the waging of Jihad.

Communism and Terrorism: Are They Complimentary?

The world has witnessed and is still witnessing the horrors of Communism and is at present in the grip of terrorism too. In fact terrorism is age old and existed in all centuries and in all parts of the world in some form or other. Terrorism in the modern sense is violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians for political or other ideological goals. Most definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear or "terror", are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants.

Turkey Wages War Under the Mat

Turkey the only republic in the Islamic world suffers the agitation by Kurds who form part of its population. Kurds are also present in Iraq, Iran and Syria in great numbers. They stay in areas where borders of these countries meet. The struggle by Kurds to form an independent State has been going on since 1984 and the fight has taken advantage of the presence of large number of Kurds in neighboring Iraq (1).

Eritrea Identified With Active Terrorism and Politics of Destabilization

Eritrea is a tiny North East African nation close to Ethiopia. It overlooks the Gulf and strategically thus important too. It has Ethiopia, Djibouti and Sudan as immediate neighbors. It has long coast line of Red sea. The Eritrean War of Independence (1961 - 1991 ) was a conflict fought between the Ethiopian government and Eritrean separatists, both before and during the Ethiopian Civil War. The war went on for 30 years until 1991 when the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF), having defeated the Ethiopian forces in Eritrea, took control of the country. In April 1993, in a referendum supported by Ethiopia, the Eritrean people voted almost unanimously in favor of independence. Formal international recognition of an independent and sovereign Eritrea followed later the same year (1). Thus, another warring nation was born in horn of America adding to chaos, confusion and instability in a volatile region and strategically very important due to approach to Suez Canal, the link between Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Morocco and Terrorism

The word Morocco is directly derived from the Amazigh word Mur-Akush meaning Land of God. The full Arabic name of Morocco, Al-Mamlaka al-Maghribiya, translates to "The Western Kingdom". Al Maghrib (meaning "The West") is commonly used. For historical references, historians used to refer to Morocco as Al Maghrib al Aqşá ("The Farthest West"), disambiguating it from the historical region called the Maghreb. The name "Morocco" in many other languages originates from the name of the former capital, Marrakech (1). Morocco is a North West African country that is very close to Europe near Spain. It is neighbored by Algeria and Western Sahara and is strategically very important. It is separated from Spain in Europe by Straits of Gibraltar in Mediterranean Sea separating from Atlantic Ocean. It has long Atlantic coast. Muslims occupied Spain in medieval times through these narrow straits and established rule of Moors and finally they were driven out by Francs. AlQaeda leadership claims Spain as a land of Islam and is waging Jihad against it. Morocco is a strong ally of USA and is maintaining cordial relations eversince American independence. It has the oldest functional friendship treaty signed by legendary President John Adams and Jefferson with Moroccan King of the period. However it expressed its opposition to American war on Iraq stating that it would antagonize Muslim fundamentalists in the country.

Pakistan In Turmoil

Pakistan is in turmoil now days; thanks to the intriguing aspects of mental make up of its people, policies and US pressures and historical background apart from ever involving Pak army in the country’s affairs. Pakistan never had stable governing right from the days of its founding in 1947 after breaking away from greater India. It has been found on the foundations of fundamentalism, falsified superiority of Islam over infidels, inability to adjust and live with Kafirs (Hindus) and hatred towards them and their ill perceived domination in liberated India. Its birth has been tarnished with blood of people and curses from people on both sides of the border. Secondly, it was most unnaturally formed with East Pakistan comprising of East Bengal provinces with majority Muslim population who are ethnically, culturally and physically different from the West Pakistanis who go around with egoism, air of superiority and dominance by virtue of their superior physical build, complexion and gait over dark skinned, short stature and physically weak Bengali Muslim brothers. More over these provinces are separated by a distance of more than 1000 km cutting across India the arch enemy to Pakistan. Finally this led to the inevitable disintegration of Pakistan and birth of Bangladesh, another Muslim nation not before General Tikka Khan, the military governor of East Pakistan committed grave crimes and murders on the Bengali population and killing of intellectuals as an act of repression. Bangladesh is no holy cow and it has persecuted minorities in their country and has identified itself with Mullahs and inspired international terrorism. The banned books of Tasleema Nasreen in the country and her persecution are the testimony to this fact. All her writings are gagged under the pretext of writing against Prophet ( PBUH) and Islam that are not acceptable. Now they are hand in glove with Pakistan, their once tormentors in doing devil’s dance of terrorism. Its people most shamefully and thanklessly killed their father of nation Sheik Mujeebur Rehman who led them to liberation with the help of Indian army and was a sane person. India is no better in this regard. India’s father of Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was also shot and killed soon after gaining independence. Pakistan suffered military dictatorships in a span of ten years after gaining nationhood and right from the days of self proclaimed Field Marshal Ayub Khan (1958-1969) who deposed President Iskandar Mirza ( A former army General) who declared Marshal Law in 1958 (1). By this time politicization of Pakistan army was well rooted and complete. General Yahya Khan (1969-1971) succeeded Ayub Khan and his bad handling of situation after general elections resulted in 1971 war with India and consequent liberation of East Pakistan that was named Bangladesh (2). General Zia ul Haq (1978-1988) followed in foot steps and dethroned Prime Minister Zulfikhar Ali Bhutto in 1978 and subsequently hanged him (3). President Zia ul Haq died in a mysterious air crash along with his aides in 1988 which remains unsolved till today. Even now the country is suffering Under General Pervez Musharraf (1999---) who dethroned Prime Minister Nawaz sheriff in 1999 and Pakistan thus has been suffering military dictatorships for nearly 30 years out of its 60 years of pathetic existence (4). President Musharraf is facing the most difficult period of his eight year rule till date.
