EARTHWORMS

Probably  the country needs war not one but many so that voice of army is heard by the civil servants.  . Some guys of course react that it was wishful thinking and out of frustration due to failure of civil government in reacting to demands of army. There is no frustration on this side. The real fact is that peace time army has no respect and also will have no respect especially in this land of oppertunists. This is truth whether some one likes or not. Many know this but out of modesty act as if not true or be a cat on the wall. They look other way. Many guys see Army as a waste of national resources. Are we maintaining army as a show piece as a safety factor? Second is rather true. We have already fought many wars and lost some major too. But for Army, Delhi would have been with Pakistan. In 1965, Field Marshal Ayub Khan declared that He would have breakfast at Rawalpindi and lunch at Delhi or something to that effect. It shows how poorly he assessed and how very confident he was. They were so confident when American Patton Tanks lumbered across the borders in hundreds. Army then has shown what it means with World War II vintage American built Shermans and British Centurions. Kudos to them. Some guys who  claim to be the only experts in modern tank warfare might feel happy in arm chairs without seeing a round being fired from a tank at enemy. Cheers to them. Leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri and Jagivan Ram, Defense minister had guts and in fact Indians could have good lunch with roasted chicken and beer at Lahore. I am sorry. We are Gandhians. No Chicken and beer. We should not say loud. Topiwallahs might get offended. We could have had some vegetables and goat’s milk, peeled bananas and Parathas in Lahore. Otherwise Gandhis soul would weep beating its chest and tearing clothes. We also would get into sins and land in hell................

WAR DRUMS ARE HEARD AGAIN

The Iran problem is again making rounds with saber rattling by every one.

Iran that is feverishly pursuing its quest for nuclear status has recently fired few Long Range Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (LRBM) that has potential to seek American targets at different locations around the world and is viewed as a direct threat to American ally Israel (1). The show of strength came three days after U.S.-led warships finished naval exercises in the Gulf  that Iran branded as "adventurist” Iran  remains locked in dispute with the West over its nuclear program, which Washington says is geared to producing atomic weapons but Tehran says is only for generating electricity.  Iran’s state-run media reported that one of them was a modified Shahab-3 ballistic missile, which has a claimed range of 1,250 miles and could theoretically deliver a one-ton nuclear warhead over Israeli cities. Tel Aviv is about 650 miles from western Iran. General Hossein Salami, a senior Revolutionary Guard commander, boasted that “our hands are always on the trigger and our missiles are ready for launch”.............

Love and forgiveness are complimentary

Love and forgiveness are complimentary and cannot be separated from each other. We invariably forgive those whom we love. We also do not forgive those whom we hate and do not like. But is this correct? Lord Jesus has preached that one must love and forgive even enemies. He practiced what he preached. This is evident from his famous utterance when he was crucified on the cross. He said “ Oh father forgive these. They do not know what they are doing” ( Luke 23:34 CEV.) (1). But how many of us can emulate him? Think of Sept 9/11. Americans went hammer and tong against AlQaeda worldwide after the uncalled sadistic bombings on US main land at New York. President George W Bush declared” I want Osama Bin Laden dead or alive”. However President George W Bush recently declared that this was a mistake and he should not have said these words that alienated Muslim world from America . Mr Bush said, “ Well I said dead or alive after Sept the 11 th. It is an unfortunate statement I made. But inherent in the statement is our desire to bring him to justice” (2). Past is past. It cannot be undone anyhow. But fact is that Americans have not forgiven the terrorists although Gospel preaches to do so. Thus we find that in practical life, we come across many situations where it is not possible to follow the Gospel in true spirit. In India MK Gandhi was shot and killed by Nathuram Godse in 1948. Godse was tried and hanged at gallows. There was no forgiving. There was no reduction of sentence to life imprisonment. People craved (A section) for Godse’s blood. Probably many felt that it was a revengeful hanging by the Government that was led to power by MK Gandhi. King Czar and his family were shot dead by the communists after great revolution in Czarist Russia in last century. There was no pardon for the czar. They were just cold blood murders. True. Communists do not believe in Christianity or any other religion. Murder was a fair play for them as a part of revolution. But it is claime that Christian world has not taken note of section Luke 23:34 in true spirit of preaching and practice. .....................

War and Religious Faith

The religions preach non violence ( However some claim that Islam preaches violence in the form of Jihad), compassion, love and peace among human beings world wide. But tragically, the human societies do exactly opposite of this and are at each others throats most of the times. What is wrong with these societies? Why they fight each other? Why they can not see reason and stop fighting? Does religion sanctify wars? These are some of the intricate questions to be answered.
