What is a blog post, and how do I create one?

Think of blog entries as letters, essays, articles or opinions. Blog posts are usually posted to the front page of the site, with the latest piece inserted at the top, pushing earlier posts downward and, eventually on to the second and subsequent pages. Questions or other conversation starters can also be blog entries. But the better tool for general conversation is topic in the discussion forum. If you'd rather start a new topic for discussion, you can submit new forum topics here.

All content is categorized using tags or category terms. At least one tag is required for all content. These “tags” tell others a little bit about the subject you are writing about, and they help people find your post using searches, either on this site or on the Internet at large. Assigning multiple tags is not only ok, it's preferred. But Please use categories that describe your topic. Merely start typing a topic into the field labeled “Tags:” and the system will try to guess the term you want to use, and offer you some choices from those already known. It's best to use an existing tag, if it effectively describes your content, because it associates your blog post with others like it. However, feel free to create a more appropriate term, or tag. That's what tagging is all about. To get and idea of how tagging works, take a look at the Tag Cloud.

If you have questions about creating content, please leave them in the comments section. Your questions will help us improve this and other help pages.
