SUMMARY:The Future Is Peace: : A Conversation with Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon
DESCRIPTION:Register Here →\nOverview\n\n\n\nA public conversation on peace\, reconciliation\, and a future beyond division. \n\n\n\n\nOn May 16\, Faith Commons is honored to host Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon\, co-authors of The Future Is Peace: A Shared Journey Across the Holy Land. Their conversation will explore what can emerge when people refuse the logic of revenge and insist on the dignity of every human life. \nAbu Sarah and Inon do not speak about peace from a distance. One is Palestinian. One is Israeli. Each has endured searing personal loss within a conflict that continues to wound communities and public life. What makes their witness so compelling is not that they avoid the truth of suffering. It is that they face it directly and still argue that another future is possible. \nThis event offers space for reflection at a time when public discourse so often rewards certainty\, outrage\, and division. Their story invites a harder question: what does it look like to reject despair without denying pain? \nAbu Sarah and Inon will be introduced by Dr. Natali Levin Schwartz\, an expert in theories of change and the role of narratives in addressing violence. \nAll proceeds from the event will support the work of InterAct. \n2:00 Program \nFollowed by a Reception for Event Sponsors

SUMMARY:A Documentary Screening of "The Other"
DESCRIPTION:Screening of “The Other\,” an award winning documentary exploring the complex relationship between Israelis & Palestinians \nPurchase tickets here: Eventbrite.com \n\n\n\nThe Other is an award-winning documentary about Israelis and Palestinians who have chosen to meet across the divide and work side by side for a different future. Directed by Joy Sela and filmed between 2017 and 2024\, it is the first film to follow Israeli-Palestinian peacebuilding communities both before and after October 7th. \nThe people at the center of the film have known each other mostly through violence and loss. Former fighters appear alongside parents who have buried their children\, and what they share is a willingness to hold the pain of “the other” while still carrying their own. Their example is a reminder that even deeply rooted fear and hatred can be unlearned. \nFaith Commons is hosting this screening in partnership with Human Rights Dallas\, the Alliance for Middle East Peace\, Atidna International\, and Wilshire Baptist Church. Please stay after the film for a talk back with Natali Levin-Schwarz and Jadd Hashem. Natali is an Israeli now living in Dallas\, where she serves as Director of Research and Policy Impact at the Alliance for Middle East Peace. Jadd\, whose father is Palestinian\, is a first-year student at Dedman School of Law and co-founded Atidna International while an undergraduate at the University of Texas. \nWe are charging for this film because we have a limited number of seats\, and when we don’t charge\, people RSVP and forget to come! But if the ticket price is a barrier\, please contact one of us and we will make sure you can attend. \nHope to see you there.\nUntil then\, keep the faith.\nGeorge (george@faithcommons.org)\nNancy (nancy@faithcommons.org)
