Join Us for a Special MLK Celebration: “The Beloved Community: Resisting Domination”

On Saturday, January 25th, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (with a continental breakfast from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.), Salem Institutional Baptist Church in Dallas will host an inspiring MLK celebration. This event, presented by the Black/Africana Church Studies Program at SMU Perkins School of Theology, will explore the theme of “The Beloved Community: Resisting Domination.”

Keynote speaker Dr. Jason Shelton, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for African American Studies at UT Arlington, will share insights from his groundbreaking work on religion, race, and the dynamics of the Black Church. The event will be moderated by Dr. Michael Greene, Director of the Black/Africana Church Studies Program at SMU.
